Ladyhawke

LADYHAWKE takes full musical flight this summer joining the BIG DAY OUT at all shows, showering us with her glittering and loud pop tunes.

Loaded with evocative 80’s sounds and pop gems LADYHAWKE‘S music is the brain child of a globetrotting gal called Pip Brown. Originally hailing from New Zealand, moving to Melbourne, then Sydney and now residing in the UK, the story of Pip Brown and the birth of LADYHAWKE veers off in numerous stratospheres but always returns to her passion for music and her determined pursuit of LADYHAWKE’S dreams.

At an early age Pip was only concerned with playing at a substantial volume ‘The louder, the better as far was I was concerned’. Much to the delight of her neighbors Pip went on to master guitar, bass and synth, ‘I wanted to make music that could put a smile on people’s faces and give them a feeling of nostalgia even though they may be hearing my songs for the first time’.

‘I love how music evokes memories of a certain time, I wanted to see if I could find a method of songwriting that would evoke those feelings from me on writing the song and then from the individual when listening to it for the first time’.

‘Me and LADYHAWKE are two sides of one coin.
She is an incredibly important part of my personality.
As primarily, above all else, a songwriter, I only ever wanted to create something that evoked feelings.
I hope that LADYHAWKE does.’

LADYHAWKE’s music sounds like an incredible record from the 70’s or 80’s with all the relevance of a current day classic, and with gems like Paris Is Burning and Delirium LADYHAWKE is sure to set the dancefloor on fire at the BIG DAY OUT 2010.
