Kasabian

At the 2007 BIG DAY OUT, they were upstart show-stealers. In 2010, KASABIAN return as kings, ready to rule BIG DAY OUT with a glam stompin’ rock fist.

In their 10 years as a band, The Leicester lads – songwriter and guitarist Serge Pizzorno, singer Tom Meighan, bassist Chris Edwards and drummer Ian Matthews – have dropped Processed Beats, built a future-rock Empire, and now they’ve taken over the West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum and set the place on Fire.

The band’s third album, the Mercury Music Prize-nominated West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum powers from the total chaos of Vlad the Impaler (“It's a call out to all our people, the ones who are tuned into our radio station,” says Serge) to the techno pulse of Swarfiga.

KASABIAN are “a potent live act with a mix of swagger, cockiness, and tongue-in-cheek shenanigans,” says The New Zealand Herald. “Formidable” and “rabble-rousing” adds The Evening Standard. Nominated for Best Live Act at the 2009 Q Awards, KASABIAN have in the past year turned the field at Glastonbury into one massive choir, played a pub gig in Dublin that was beamed out live around the world, fired up thousands of Japanese fans at Summer Sonic, and supported Oasis in stadiums across the UK.

And with those Gallagher brothers now looking like goners, KASABIAN could be about to get a hell of a lot busier: “Festivals, stadiums and arenas will need filling,” Chris told the Daily Record, “and we are ready to be that band."

We’ve got a tip for you: KASABIAN are already that band. They’re cocky, cool, and here to rule. Bow down before the kings of indie rock swagger at BIG DAY OUT 2010.
